The process by which a movement, technology, or system — born from a genuine promise to liberate, empower, or free people — isdeliberately hollowed out from withinand redirected to serve the control, profit, or agenda of those who already hold power, while keeping the original name, language, and appearance intact.
Unlike simple corruption or natural decay, pervertification is not passive. It requires that the original promise be credible and widely believed — powerful enough to be worth capturing rather than simply crushed or ignored.

Etymology
From Latin pervertere ("to turn away from, to corrupt") + the productive suffix -ification (as in gentrification,enshittification) — a morphological pattern the reader already recognizes as "the process of X happening to something that didn't ask for it."
